QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training

The Greater Fall River Partners for a Healthier Community School-Community Partnership on October 24 presented Annemarie Matulis, Director of the Bristol County Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention presenting QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Similar to CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught Gatekeeper training in the world.  QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to save a life from suicide.

Annemarie Matulis presenting on QPR

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans, like you, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend, colleague, sibling, or neighbor.

The training on the 24th was an introductory overview of the full four hour training necessary for full certification. For more information about QPR go to https://www.qprinstitute.com
